Certified Tutor
As a recent graduate of Loyola University Maryland, I believe in sharing my skills and talents with others to enable them to succeed. I studied Biology and Spanish during my undergraduate career and earned a Bachelor of Science degree this past May. I began tutoring peers in high school, and continued throughout college as a peer tutor through an office, The Study, dedicated to academic support for all students. I worked at The Study for 3 years and became a CRLA certified tutor. I believe in a holistic tutoring approach that focuses on critical thinking, practical knowledge, and time management, and as a tutor, I will guide the student through the challenging areas of the material and be there to support them. When I am not tutoring, I enjoy photography, hiking, and reading, and would like to continue my education to pursue a Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. I would be more than happy to share personal references upon request as well. Thank you for reading and I hope to meet with you soon!

What is your teaching philosophy?
My goal when tutoring students is to not only help them find an answer to a problem, but to also help them learn how to think creatively by themselves and ask questions to reinforce their understanding.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Get to know them! See what they like, which subjects interest them, how they study, how they time manage, etc. Understanding more about the student is key in helping them to achieve their academic goals.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Since I am more of a visual learner, I tend to draw things out so the student can understand them more clearly. If the student is still having difficulty, I would try to understand what exactly is giving them trouble, and figure out how to help them from there. Each scenario is unique!
