I am a Registered Nurse! I received my degree in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2013 (Go Badgers!). Afterwards, I passed my NCLEX and started work in the field! I quickly gained experience in Pediatrics, Gynecology, Postpartum and Medical/Surgical acute care. Starting my career in such a diverse setting was difficult, but it left me with tons of knowledge to share!
Nursing involves evaluation, assessment, diagnosis, planning, and implementation. However, one of the most important aspects of nursing is critical thinking. Critical thinking not only involves knowing the information but knowing how and when to use it. I look forward to not only helping my students master the information but teaching them how to correctly apply it to real-life nursing scenarios!

What is your teaching philosophy?
Having a great teaching philosophy means knowing your student! I love to know how my students like to learn, and I use that information to tailor my approach to them. I also enjoy using the teach-back method to ensure that they understand concepts and ideas!
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I love to get to know my students! Engaging in a short introduction will make both tutor and student feel more comfortable. Then, I begin by finding out which areas the student feels confident in! After finding out strengths, we can move on to weaknesses.
