Certified Tutor

I recently graduated from Swarthmore College with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Classical Studies. In my junior year I worked as a Student Academic Mentor, helping my fellow students manage their work, classes, and stress. Though new to the tutoring profession, I have been guiding and instructing my friends and family in Latin, English, and general writing and editing for a number of years. I had the chance to hone my editing skills in publishing internships with science fiction/fantasy publisher Tor Books in downtown NYC.

My tutoring style is based on the belief that each student comes to a problem or subject from a different angle. The trick is not only to find the approach that works for the student, but also to boost the student's own investment in finding the methods that work best. I believe a student learns best when choosing to engage with the subject on a personal level.

In my free time, I enjoy writing, reading, outdoor activities e.g. hiking, playing board and video games, and spending time with friends.
