I am a senior of the Evergreen State College working toward my Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Writing & Literature and Cultural Theory and a minor in Visual Art. As a certified ESL teacher, I volunteered teaching English for students within the agricultural community of Tena, Ecuador. I have also worked as tutor for adult learners at North Seattle Community College, facilitating work on everything from creative writing projects to college admission essays to English writing and speaking skills for our international population. Last year I worked as a Teacher's Assistant at Garfield Elementary School where I focused on reading comprehension and writing skills with our Kindergarten students.
I am passionate about engaging in a mutual learning experience and helping to provide my students with the tools for their own success. With English, Literature, and Writing as my foci, I work to connect my students with their own passions around these subjects - helping them to develop as thinkers, interpreters, and expressors of their own ideas. Helping students develop these important skills for success in their future lives has been a true joy for me.
Outside of school and work, I enjoy doing things that expand my conception of myself and the world. This includes reading poetry and philosophy, listening to music, visiting museums and art galleries, developing my creative practice, and engaging in conversation with others (of which I find to be one of the most curious and fascinating aspects of life).
