Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of Washington University in Saint Louis, cum laude, class of 2012. As an undergraduate, I majored in philosophy and also studied music and French. After graduating, I worked as a computer programmer at a financial software company for 2 years. Last year, I travelled to Hong Kong to tutor SAT and other subjects to high-achieving students who were planning on attending college in the US. My other teaching experience includes beginner's English lessons provided through a church and an after school tutoring program for at-risk middle school students. For me, the most important thing in working with a student is that the student enjoys what he or she is learning. I am a quintessential 'life-long' learner and will always love learning new things. I find great joy in learning and try to impart this mentality to my students -- it makes lessons more fun and also leads to better results in the classrooms or on tests. I teach a wide range of subjects, but I am most effective tutoring standardized test prep, literature, and writing. While not teaching, I play piano professionally, and spend lots of time writing and recording music. I also very much enjoy playing tennis.
