I am a graduate of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. My degrees include a Bachelor's of Science in Engineering Physics, a Master's of Science in the Teaching of Physics, and a PhD in Adult and Continuing Education (specialization in Post-Secondary Science Curriculum & Instruction). My studies and research focused on application of cognitive and educational psychology in the physics classroom for lasting learning of the concepts. As such, I have 18 years experience and expertise in teaching introductory Physics courses (both Algebra and Calculus-based) at college/university level. My experience and education lends to me having not only comprehensive understanding of Physics and Math, but also a deep understanding of how to present/explain in ways that make it easy to pick up the concepts and apply them to word problems. I focus on concepts as well as study skills and strategies for complex knowledge. I believe if I'm doing my job well, my students won't need me at some point because they've mastered the material enough to do well on their formal assessments on their own!

My hobbies include stand-up comedy, reading, hiking, and knitting & crocheting. I am an open, fun, good-humored person, who is easy to approach and ask questions.
