Certified Tutor

I have seven years of experience as a classroom teacher, grades 6 through 12, and I'm currently working toward my masters in education. I hold state teaching certification, as well as American Board certification in language arts. I love helping students of all ages--elementary age through adult--in a variety of English language skills. Among my favorite subjects to teach are all types of writing (including research writing), literature analysis, public speaking, foundations of logic in persuasive writing & speeches, and yes...you may call me a Grammar Nerd--because I do love grammar!! Whether you are a competent writer in need of a little support, a faint-hearted writer, a panicked writer, or anywhere in between, I can help you polish and perfect your writing skills. If you need papers edited, I can help you with that as well. I have experience tutoring International students with limited English, as well as preparing students with the basics and fine points for college writing. I'm not a cookie-cutter tutor! Instead, I enjoy discovering how each student learns best & then customizing our strategies together. I have a knack for making challenging concepts simple & logical, and I love to pull out 'tricks' to help students learn and remember.
