Certified Tutor
I am a Kansas State University graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education and a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I have been a teacher for 17 years and am especially passionate about helping students learn!
My husband and kids sometime poke fun at me because I have proclaimed that Math is my passion. (It's true!) I have taught and tutored students in a wide variety of math levels from elementary school through college. I love helping students overcome insecurities with Math.
My next favorite subject is Spanish. Learning a second language can be an amazing experience because you learn to communicate with another culture.
In my free time, I enjoy watching my kids in their various sports, theater, and music activities, along with volunteering in my community.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe that all students can learn. My goal as an educator is to unlock learning for students by involving them and keeping learning relevant.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
We would spend time getting to know each other and also determining skill gaps.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I try to teach using a variety of approaches, because not every student learns the same.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I help students become independent learners by giving them strategies and tools they can use even after we are finished meeting.
