Michael
Certified Tutor
I graduated from St. Louis University in 2011 with a BA in English Literature. I have always had a passion for everything involving the English language, and I spend a good amount of free time reading books and writing fiction.
My love for the English language took me to Korea, where I taught everything from Phonics to Grammar to Essay Construction. My classes were fairly small, which helped me develop my one-on-one teaching skills. Also, I learned to overcome many obstacles that occur in the teaching-learning relationship.
I think it is imperative that a student feels comfortable with his or her tutor. While I expect hard work and determination from my students, I am still an easy-going individual who is not judgmental at all. I am fun and laid back, but knowledgeable and committed to education.
I can tutor anything related to English, though I certainly specialize in Writing. I am also qualified and available to teach ACT prep. I have an understanding of standardized tests and can help students formulate effective strategies to maximize their scores.
As I mentioned earlier, reading and writing fiction have to be near the top of my hobbies list. Also, I would add listening to live music, playing and watching soccer, and collecting records to that list.
At the end of the day, I am a guy who enjoys life and learning. I believe I am a good tutor, because more often than not those two qualities are contagious.
