Marci: Pittsburg tutor
Certified Tutor
I am currently a PhD candidate at Arizona State University in a program called "Biology and Society." I study the history of agricultural research in India, where I recently lived for 6 months as a Boren Fellow. My background is in Biochemistry and Environmental Policy, which were my major and specialization at Michigan State University, where I completed my undergraduate degree. Math and Chemistry have always been my favorite subjects, so I'm very happy to share my passion for understanding and applying these subjects. My role as a tutor is to facilitate student learning and to excite students about the subject. While I have both generalized and specialized knowledge in certain subjects, my goal is not to just transmit information, but to engage my students as active learning participants. I believe that instructors and students should set clear expectations and goals, and that learning should be a safe environment for all types of students. In my free time, I enjoy biking around Tempe, playing my cello, shopping for vintage clothes, and saving up for my next international adventure (China is next!).
