I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

I studied International Affairs at the George Washington University in Washington, DC. While in college, I was very involved in the Alternative Breaks Program, through which I planned and went on community service trips in the US and Central America. I studied abroad in Prague, Czech Republic and Cairo, Egypt my junior year of college. When I graduated, I moved to Cairo, Egypt to study Arabic and teach at a private elementary school. While I was there I worked as a private tutor for Egyptian families. I tutored students in English and also math, essay writing, and test preparation. I am currently working at a public charter school for the performing arts in Washington, DC as an Assistant Kindergarten teacher. As a young tutor, I relate well to students. After spending all day with a large class of students, I love to sit down and focus one on one during tutoring sessions.

Most importantly, I want every lesson to be fun. There is nothing wrong with laughing a little while learning a lot. I strive for my students to look forward to our sessions and for every student to walk away from a session with a greater understanding of the subject and a smile on his or her face.

A little about me - I am from New Jersey and very proud of it! I love to spend time at the Jersey Shore with my parents, two sisters, and brother. I have an adorable kitten name Lemieux who greets me every day after work with a lovely meow. I play on a DC Kickball team for fun and recently ran a half marathon. I still study Arabic and love practicing it with my Egyptian friends here in DC.
