I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Grace: Richmond Hill tutor

Certified Tutor

I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a BFA in Printmaking/Drawing and a concentration in Writing. After graduating in 2011, I taught English in South Korea for a year in various settings, including classes for adults in business and conversational English as well as individual tutoring for all ages and levels. My favorite experience teaching in Korea was leading a class of adult professionals in a patent office in improving their casual conversational skills. Since moving back to St. Louis, I have coached students in SAT test prep, study skills, writing, reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and basic academic subjects. Most recently, I have worked as grants manager at the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis, where I advised applicants on how to best write their applications for funding. Today, I continue to assist grant-seekers with one-on-one application reviews.

I am passionate about helping each student reach their potential. Learning to study, read and write effectively is transformational and helps students become strong life-long learners and communicators. My teaching style is patient but firm, as well as adaptive.

In my spare time, I make art and play music, and I am building up towards making my handcrafted products available online!
