I hold a Ph.D. in History, with a focus on modern Latin American, World, and U.S. history. I have taught at the university level in Canada and the United States, and at the high school level (Upward Bound Program Latin American Youth Center) in Washington, D.C. I have also worked as Spanish language tutor.
In the past, I have worked as Director of Research and Policy for a non-profit in Washington, D.C., freelance translator and interpreter (English and Spanish). He also worked as Country Specialist (2005-2007) for Amnesty International USA.
I am fluently bilingual in English and Spanish. I have given presentations on human rights in Latin America and translated for human rights defenders from that region in meetings involving US governmental representatives from Congress and the State Department. I am an avid reader; enjoy political issues, sports, especially running and soccer, and spending time with my son. I am very passionate about teaching and believe that knowledge and education are the keys to success in life!
