Today the student and I spent most of the time going over some practice tests she had recently taken. We wanted to assess where we were at so we can plan for the next month. Starting next session (Tuesday), we are going to continue on with science, then tackle reading.

The student was just beginning the chapter on polygons, so we started with several definitions including the definition of a polygon, a regular polygon, convex and concave polygons. We then started with two theorems including the sum of the interior angles is (n-2)*180 and the sum of the exterior angles is 360. We worked on several problems using these to theorems and information from given drawings, including solving the measure of each of the angles.

We discussed possible scheduling for summer and plans for summer reading and academic schedules. We discussed final exams. We did a practice SAT essay and practice brainstorming for an ACT essay.

Life Science: covered genetic probability, Punnett squares, co-dominant traits, completed lab experiment with various parent/offspring trait combinations, and review. I also spoke with the student about a better way to manage his time & our time together to keep on track in both Pre-Algebra & Life Science.

The student and I met from 5:35 to 7:05. The objective was to review for the Algebra final exam. First we worked on an overdue worksheet that he had not completed. We wanted to make sure to replace the three zeros that he had for his daily grades. After completing those three assignments we were able to work on the final exam review. We worked on factoring of polynomials, multiplying polynomials, solving systems of equations, graphing of functions, evaluating functions, and changing a function from standard form to y-intercept form and identifying the slope and y-intercept. I believe he will do well on his final by completing his review and studying over it.

Today we discussed a lot of pre calc, using the unit circle to find certain angles and the radius of a circle using sin, cos, sec, csc, tan, and cot. He did an awesome job.
