The student and I continued to review his algebra I packet that he needs to study. We covered rules of exponents, rules with polynomials, and graphing methods. This took the entire 1.5 hours.

The student and I worked on more systems of equations in which you must solve for multiple variables using either elimination or substitution methods.

He had already gone over the sections in the textbook but wanted to review concepts. We reviewed how to estimate percentages by rounding the percentage to 10% or 50% (easy percentages). We then practiced setting up equations based on identifying the parts and the base of the percentage problem. We also reviewed adding/subtracting/multiplying mixed numbers (fractions). We also tackled one of his Critical Thinking problems (finding out how many peaches/oranges/apples were bought based on the total amount paid) by setting it up algebraically.

Today we went over transforming variables and ANOVA . This was part of the student's assignment for today. We covered what an ANOVA analysis does and what kind of variables are required for it. Then we created variables in the data set she needed to use and ran the analysis. By the end of the time, she felt confident she could complete her assignment. She also seemed to understand the analysis well enough to discuss it.

We went through the rest of her questions. We covered mostly trigonometry. I explained each question to her and asked her to solve similar questions to make sure she understood how to do them. She was able to do them by herself. She is doing good.

The student did not understand the lecture on graph transformations and rotations. As such, I spent the session explaining the concepts and creating sample questions. By the end of the session he was clear on all the concepts.
