Recent Kendall Tutoring Session Notes
The student did an excellent job in this session. We did his assignment on subtracting polynomials and by the end he was able to set them up and solve them on his own. He understood the concepts that were involved. He knows what variables and exponents are and he also understood the process of solving the problems from left to right. One concept I'd like to work on with him more is subtracting negatives. I also added multiples of 4 to his flash cards and we practiced those in order and then mixed them up. I will add new numbers to the cards when he shows he knows the ones he has and is fluent with them. This will help him improve his basic multiplication skills greatly.

The student and I reviewed how Rate is related to Ratio, both its definition and the methods used to calculate rates for different units. We are also preparing for his end-of-year exam. We reviewed chapter 8.2 in his textbook and completed the exercise problem for this chapter.

The student continued to make progress in Chemistry. We focused on the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle and electron energy levels, specifically photon absorption. We also worked on Kinetics, and the student will do some additional Kinetics problems for homework before we meet again next Thursday.

Worked with the student on a few things coming up in History, most notably a quiz leading up to the breakout of the Civil War, 1820-1861. Also talked to him about his plan to make a drawing for a contest, and we talked about the ways in which you inject imagery into a small format to give it content. Good session.

I primarily went over nuclear chemistry concepts with the student today. In addition, I went over a handful of other chemistry topics for his comprehensive final this upcoming Friday. He should do just fine on the final, as well as in the course.
