Today we continued transformations and translations of functions and identifying parent functions. The student has homework problems she still must complete. She is working on memorizing the parent functions and the procedures to transform them.

Today, the student and I reviewed for her upcoming test on 2 sample t-tests, t and z tests for proportions, and confidence intervals. The student had a few conceptual questions, but overall I think she has a really solid grasp of the material. We then walked through a couple of problems, and she had a very good understanding of how to solve them.

The student and I worked on problems involving adding/subtracting and multiplying/dividing decimal numbers without a calculator. We also worked on percentage problems, fractions, averages, etc.

Today was the first day I met with the student. We talked for a bit about where he was from, what school he goes to, etc. Then we went through his homework sheet. He had one half of the assignment left to do, so we did that. And then when we were finished, I created some problems that were similar to the problems he was solving. We did a few problems involving greater/less than or equal to and a few simple equations where he would have to make both sides equal. He seemed to struggle on the rectangle area/perimeter problem. So in the future, we will have to spend more time on that.

We worked more on doing prep work for the student's test on Tuesday. I worked through an integral problem with a log in it. We both did a hard partial fractions problem that she got correct completely! I answered the questions that she had about U-Substitution and trig subs. She is improving greatly.

Today, we went over Algebra 2 topics covering quadratic functions in vertex form, graphing polynomial functions, determining end behavior, determining polynomial functions based on graphs, x and y-intercepts of functions, and maximum/minimum values. Overall, the student was doing well today with the material and had a better understanding of the concepts after our session. Great job today!
