We went over a bunch of word problems that involve multiple steps and order of operation elements. It went well mostly, because he was able to figure out in what order to multiply/add/subtract things so the problem makes sense.
But then we went over some equations, no word problems. And we had to really focus in on the elements of the order of operations. I had him right down the PEMDAS acronym, and we tried to apply that to all of the problems I gave him.

The student and I worked on Geometry in this session. He had two work sheets to practice with. We practiced different shapes and various triangles which allowed him to use the definition of the shape to understand better how to name it.

The student and I worked on her math assignment with an emphasis on decimals, aligning decimals, and converting decimals to fractions. She also had to watch an online video and answer questions based on the video. We also discussed an English assignment. The assignment was to read "The Necklace" by Guy de Maupassant, analyze it and give her opinion. She had to provide the plot, the protagonist and her characteristics, the scene, the events as they occurred, and the ending. The piece required that she understand the time period and historical events of that time. She also had to understand French class system, monetary system, and social mores. This was an excellent session.

We reviewed the content that the student will need to understand for her test tomorrow. This content includes the formal definition of the derivative, derivative operations (product/quotient/chain), implicit differentiation, and applications of derivatives. We spent the most time covering problems that asked for direct derivative computations of functions. She seems mostly prepared for the exam, but she should still look over her list of known derivatives and do whatever she can to memorize them.

I was asked by the parents to attend an IEP (Individual Education Plan) for the student at his school. This meeting involved setting goals and plans for the next year. Specialists and teachers who work with him had input. Accommodations for his coursework were discussed. The plan will be finalized on Monday.
