Verbal and Math Strategies and practice. Went over strategies to text completion, and sentence equivalence problems with practice applying the techniques. Also went over quantitative word problems and practiced applying test taking strategies to arrive at answers.

The student and I worked on his summer reading book report. We worked on a blurb for the back cover of the project and the description for the fifth important item/situation. The student and I also discussed plans for future sessions, including practice with writing descriptive language and vocabulary development.

We spent our time working on homework from school, including spelling words incorporating synonyms and antonyms, and words that have the ending sound "-tion". We also worked on present-, past-, and future-tense verbs. We did a quick review of our multiplication facts, and the student is starting to master her facts of 8's and 9's.

We discussed the standard equation for circles and how to express its transformations. The student grasped translational transformations as well as uniform stretches indicative of ellipses.

Today the student and I focused on the math section of the SAT; She is improving! She mostly needs help figuring out how to do the problems as once she knows how to do the problem, she is fine with the math part. She did much better on the second math set, and I expect to see more improvement Saturday!
