Worked on reading comprehension and homophones today. The student did a really good job with homophones; he really understood the concept and was coming up with his own examples. Did a good job reading and really enjoys his new books, which made the whole lesson a lot more fun for him.

Today we worked with integral approximations specifically the trapezoidal approximation and Simpson's rule. The student understands the concept, however the algebra sometimes causes problems when he tries to hurry through the calculations. Otherwise the student understands the topic.

Congruence properties of right triangles, mostly covering the hypotenuse-leg theorem. Reviewing how to do two column and flow proofs. Then went over his test.  Most of the points  he lost  were  because he was not specific enough in terms of which postulate needed to be used in which scenario.

Science: carbon dating (radioactive elements, isotopes), nitrogen cycle, cell organelles, stoichiometry, branching diagrams.  Math: area, volume, PEMDAS, GCF, LCM, fractions (+, -, x, /), percent word problems.

For our Spanish session today, the student and I started out by working on weather phrases. First we matched the English to the Spanish phrase, and then she read the phrase in Spanish and filled in the blank with the English version of the phrase. We then did the same for days of the week. We then did a review of a bunch of the random vocabulary we've been practicing -- she read the word in Spanish, and then chose the English translation word and wrote it on the line. She did a really great job of reading the words in Spanish!

We continued the student's exam review, especially focusing on inverse and direct variation. I gave her some practice problems to work on and will have another practice test ready by our meeting Saturday.
