The student and I continued working on homework as well as a practice test packet for her upcoming test on factoring, using the complete the square method as well as the quadratic equation on polynomials that are higher order than 2. We used the sum/difference of two squares and two cubes.

The student completed the assigned section on relative max and min to 95% accuracy. We then discussed the Mean Value Theorem, First and Second Derivative tests. He was able to complete questions on MVT and FDT to 100% accuracy without help from the tutor. We reviewed quickly the SDT, and completed one question together. He is to complete the Drill sections on the website provided to him for MVT, FDT and SDT for our session on Tuesday.

We went over fractions and multiplication problems. The student is still struggling with simple multiplication problems. She was attentive as usual. I tried different methods to help her recall multiplication tables such as noticing patterns, and searching for the correct answers among multiple answers.

Student 1 and I reviewed some problems he missed on a recent math test. Student 2 and I reviewed Vector and Scalar quantities, and he knows them well. Then I made up a few displacement, average velocity, and acceleration problems, and he learned quickly how to solve them.

Today the student and I reviewed some of the information that will be on her upcoming exam. I mostly focused on solving systems of equations. She was able to do elimination problems without a lot of difficulty but had trouble with substitution problems. I spent more time on substitution problems and she seemed to do better with them by the end. We also reviewed how to graph linear systems and linear inequalities. I went over a couple of examples of solving linear systems with 3 variables and she seemed to understand them better in the end. We began to go over a couple of matrices problems. I sent her an email with a couple of resources to help her with these since I couldn't go through them in complete detail.

The student and I finished his long math project today. He worked extremely hard on it and did a great job. He has a good command of the permutation and combination functions but needs to be careful when making the calculations.
