The student and I continued reviewing quadrilaterals in his workbook. He is improving at drawing diagrams for problems. He will continue to practice writing equations to help solve algebraic problems.

The student and I reviewed for his math test on Monday. He worked very hard to prepare for the test.

We thoroughly went over the math homework together and discussed some strategies that would help her with solving word problems more easily. She needs to give herself plenty of clean paper to show her work and focus on extracting the important information from problems before guessing what the answers might be.

Today we reviewed basic concepts from the last exam and did many practice exercises which are very important in identifying and correcting conceptual errors. There are however, new materials discussed in his class so additional practice and review is necessary.

We first did a retest together that he had to do for unit 7, then we did the retest for the quiz. Next, we looked at why he got the answers wrong on the quiz. Lastly, we made sure he was prepared for his unit 8 test tomorrow. At the end of the session, I tried to give him some test-taking advice, and next time I might give him more tips for test-taking. The student's biggest challenge today was working with positive and negative integers--it's something that will take a lot of practice. However, he works hard and we were able to cover a lot in an hour and a half.

We reviewed the student's homework about absolute value functions. We went through graph transformation, vertex, domain, and range. We also worked on increasing and decreasing intervals. I explained the concept to her and solved some questions for her. Then I asked her to solve the rest of the questions for me to make sure she understood how she has to solve them. She is doing well.
