The student and I went through more AP practice problems covering topics that include integrating by parts, integrating using trigonometric substitution, integrating trigonometric functions, and related rates. She was struggling a bit with the initial setup of a lot of the problems and how to break down the difficult ones. For next time, we're going to go over more AP practice problems so she can get a better grasp of concepts that the exam will cover.

The student and I practiced various algebraic functions. In addition, we practiced word problems relating to bar graphs, line graphs, and circle graphs. Given various data, he had to determine whether the data belongs to a line, bar, or circle graph. He then had to draft the corresponding graph.

Today we worked on bond order, bond enthalpy, and bond angles. The student needed help understanding the step-by-step process for finding the enthalpy of a reaction using bond enthalpy values. We took the sum of the broken bonds enthalpies and subtracted the sum of the bond forming enthalpies. It helps if you draw out the Lewis structures to visualize which bonds are being broken and formed.

The student opted to read. She chose a different book, 'Ms. Hannah is Bananas,' as she had left the book read from in our previous session at school. This particular book is written by the same author, Dan Gutman, and has similar characters. The student read aloud with very little prompting, smiling as she read, identifying the main character A.J., as rude, a very apt description. As we drew near the end of the session, she made a creative suggestion: that we create an art project using Play Doh. That seemed like a fun and lively project to me. Hopefully, there will be future opportunities to engage in this kind of learning activity in upcoming sessions.
