In today's session, the student and I spent the first thirty minutes going over the book that he is reading for English. He seemed to have a better understanding of the novel after we discussed it. I focused on many of the important themes and metaphors that are of literary significance. For the remaining time, we went over some history projects. Since we were running out of time, I went over how he should organize his outline and some suggestions for some similarities and differences that he can use.

The student has 4 tests tomorrow, so we worked through reviews for them. We specifically focused on her Physics review over circuits, which she understands very well, and her History review for the Great Depression and World War II.

I introduced the student to adding and subtracting fractions with denominators that were not the same. I taught her that in order to solve the problem when adding or subtracting fractions, you have to find the lowest common denominator. She picked this up rather quickly and did well. We spent the second half of our session working on a small reading passage and I had her retell me in sequence order after reading 1-3 paragraphs at a time.

The student completed another English test, we reviewed math questions on the test he took between sessions, then we reviewed the questions on the English tests, and ended by reviewing the questions on old English tests. I asked him to finish the math test he started last week, complete an English test, and a writing test.

The student and I began working through the review packet for his final exam. He earned a B on his last test, bringing his grade up to a few points shy of a B in the class. This review packet will replace his lowest test grade.
