I obtained a state-released exam from a previous year, and together, we went through as many problems in the allotted one hour. We did an overview of the different kinds of critical reading questions. Since we haven't seen each other much over the past month, I want to take most of these sessions over the next few days to review and remind the student of the basic strategies and question types.

We went over the basics of circular motion and universal gravitation to prepare for tomorrow's test. I made up some problems with tension and circular motion, then I set up the difficult problem of a vertical circle not at the top or the bottom. The student caught on quickly.

Yesterday Student A and I corrected and he finished his homework assignment for history, and we also covered more basics of C++. I also tried to get him to practice drawing with me, because he wants to make art. I explained that the best art, even on a computer, begins with the hand stroke of a real artist, and that he must practice if he wants to make progress.
Student B and I briefly reviewed some math problems. His algebra is rusty, so we will work more on his practice in the future. We also discussed how to learn to write essays, and I explained that he simply must read books to improve his English skills -- there is no other way. He seemed to comprehend the message.
