We covered how to interpret the SPSS output for an independent samples t-test. We spent some time discussing the importance of Levene's test and how to interpret it.

The student and I reviewed plate tectonics and learned about earthquakes. Her homework is to watch and take notes on a documentary about the Yellowstone Volcano, being sure to note inaccuracies.

It was good to see the student again. Similar to earlier sessions, we primarily covered sequences and series. We went over the ratio test, limit comparison test, monotonic convergence, p-series, and related techniques. I generated some practice problems for Matt. Other problems came from his course materials and from his webwork. Altogether, he is doing well with the material.

We went over 7th grade released test questions to see which areas the student was comfortable with and which she hadn't heard about before. I noted down concepts that need a little more reinforcement so that we could review them later. I asked her to complete the remaining questions and send me the answers.

Today was another homework session. We have moved on from the first derivative to the second derivative. What was once a critical point is now an inflection point and we see curvature instead of slopes. Most of our work was simply graphing functions and describing. Nice work overall.

I helped the student get prepared for his upcoming SAT subject test in chemistry. We first went over thermochemistry and studied exothermic and endothermic reactions. We also worked on calculating the delta H of a reaction. Then, we moved on to reaction rates and how to calculate the rates with a given data. It was the first time he was introduced to the subject, and thus we thoroughly reviewed his textbook to fully understand the material. Lastly, we went over the rate law and how to find the order of a reaction. He showed an excellent learning attitude and it was a pleasure working with him. I wish him the best of luck in his test.
