Tutoring review by Maggie in Woods Cross, UT
The student and I are continuing to prep for his geometry final. Today we worked on more trigonometric topics since he struggled with it a little bit during our last session. I gave him problems using the tangent ratio. I also gave him problems in which he had to solve the right triangles. This was good review for him because he had to use a combination of skills to solve. Figuring out with trig ratio to use was something he struggled with, but this practice helped him improve.

We went over a presentation about geothermal energy and whether it is renewable. We presented three key questions that answered the question of whether geothermal energy is renewable and also added some facts about the earth's crust and mantle related to the heat produced by the earth for this energy.

Tutoring review by Armon in Woods Cross, UT
Earlier this evening, the student and I tackled three of his upcoming problem sets: A5, A6, and A7. These problems dealt with concepts and exercises from Ch. 5 material -- circular motion. Conceptually, this covered the consequences of centripetal acceleration and forces (Newton's Laws II and III, friction, normal force, normal force x- and y-components, etc.) He took a little bit more time dealing with the conceptual portion, but he made up for it by having a very straightforward (and correct) approach to the assigned calculations. He did outstandingly well tonight, and I believe that he will use his established sense of confidence to his advantage as we continue with new material. Excellent!

The student is continuing to make good progress on the different ways to prove triangles congruent, and tactics to make that easier.
