The student and I worked on problems involving lateral area, total area, and volume of 3-dimensional figures.  We went through each type of problem step by step and she asked questions as they arose.  She understands how to calculate everything, but needed a little more instruction on which formulas to use and why.  She said she feels more comfortable with the material now.

During this session, the student and I discussed the fundamentals of the writing portion of the assessment, including essay structure and scoring. She then wrote an actual essay using a practice prompt. I graded it and we discussed how to improve. To finish up our session, she practiced several sentence improvement questions from her assessment prep book. She is definitely on the right track when it comes to this subject.

The student and I worked to develop her knowledge of arch measure, angle measure (central angles, inscribed angles, chord angles, and exterior angles), and inscribed lines. Her teacher gave a long list of useful formulas. She has a clearer idea now about what exactly each piece means geographically, and hopefully this will make her formulas make more sense.

The student had a test on exponentials the teacher made into a homework assignment, which we went over. We then went through a review packet on logs, which is her upcoming test.

The student has an upcoming exam, for which she was supplied a study guide. We began going over this study guide and I was very impressed by her execution of the physical principle. The study guide included a comprehensive overview of Vectors and their addition, as well as projectile motion in both one and two directions. We concluded the session with a discussion of graphs and the information one can infer from their analysis.

The student and I went over his chapter quiz from last week, and we worked through several of the questions he had gotten wrong on it together. I broke down the process of finding consumer and producer surplus and deadweight loss, showing him point by point how the formulas used related to the graph. He is definitely making progress grasping the fundamental concepts involved in the material, but is not yet at the level that the course requires.
