The student and I worked together on computer presentations and notes regarding the respiratory system. She has two total presentations on that topic and we focused mostly on the physiology and less on the anatomy in today's session. We reviewed central and peripheral chemoreceptors, different nuclei in the brain stem controlling respiratory drive, and general respiration. The student said she received a B+ in her most recent exam and was pleased with that grade. She seemed pretty comfortable and confident with the material we reviewed today.

Today we covered energy transfer and macronutrient metabolism. Topics of particular difficulty included the electron transport chain, and going from molecular level processes to their application in different intensity exercise activities.

Respiratory physiology: FRC, TV, V/Q, lung zones, hypoxemia, hyperventilation, pressure. Worked on solidifying the basics of respiratory physiology before delving into questions and applying the information.

The student and I reviewed the cardiac and endocrine systems. By pointing out the connections between what she hears in lecture, what she sees in clinic and the material she is already familiar with we were able to strengthen her understanding of course material. I provided her with recommendations to help structure studying and to better prepare her to answer the specific questions she'll find on exams.

Went over all of unit 5. Glycogen, cellular metabolism, Krebs Cycle, glycolysis, and ETC. Student is concerned about upcoming test, so we've set up an "emergency session" tomorrow to study once more before the test, although we will have to move through the material fairly quickly.

Completed a review of concepts in the areas of compound nomenclature, exothermic and endothermic reactions, molar conversions, concentrations, and unit conversions. In addition, we completed at least 25 practice problems to solidify mastery.
