Today we worked on the student's homework assignment out of her math book. The assignment was a Problem Set on factoring trinomials. The student did a good job understanding how to solve each problem after I walked her through just one example. We then continued to work on the student's homework packet. The sections we worked on was on factoring the GCF. She was able to find the GCF for each problem and factor it out correctly. She was also able to factor out the GCF using the grouping method correctly. We then worked on some word problems. The student is very smart and easily understands material.

We covered absolute values of numbers. The student has a great attitude toward learning the math. I explained to him how to look at absolute values in an easier way, and it seemed to help him catch on very quickly to the concept. He said he just took 2 quizzes this week and got 16 out of 16 on both of them!! Good job!

The student reviewed for his math test and completed a chemistry stoichiometry packet. He seems confident in both subjects.

Student 1 and I met first - we reviewed logarithms for his test tomorrow. We covered: definition of a log, change of base theory, applying knowledge of exponents to solve equations, and applying these rules to a formula to calculate rate/time/final amount/initial amount. He felt good about solving practice problems after our review. Student 2 and I then met and went over new concepts for her Chemistry test. We went through a worksheet about limiting reactants and applying her knowledge of stoichiometry to solve.

We worked with identifying and simplifying polynomials. The student understands about 75 percent of it. Since this homework is a review for a test and he has a few days, I told him to let me know if he wants to schedule a second session this week.

We covered the student's new topics about mean, mode and medium. Then we did problems about these topics, including word problems. We reviewed previous topics about solving inequalities and graphing lines. The student seemed more alert today and attentive. He made fewer mistakes about the basics.
