I am a medical student at New York Medical College. I've worked in both research and teaching in the past and have an MS from Teachers College, Columbia University in Neuroscience and Education. I am passionate about science and teaching and have experience teaching and tutoring all levels of Spanish, Science and Math.I enjoy working individually with students, understanding and learning the strategies that work best for each student. I incorporate visual and kinesthetic strategies, among others, to my teaching. Previously, I received a BA magna cum laude from New York University, where I majored in Comparative Literature. This fall, I will be entering a PhD program at Brown University to study Modern Culture and Media.

I attended P.L. Dunbar High School in Fort Worth, TX. After high school, I went to Stephen F. Austin State University and received a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a minor in Public Communications. I continued my educational journey at The University of Texas of the Permian Basin, and received a Master of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Teaching, Coaching and Administration. I started teaching in 2008 and haven't looked back. I currently teach English II (10th grade), however; I have taught English I, English III, reading, and writing at the high school level. I enjoy teaching reading because reading can take you to so many different places. You are not just confined to the page while reading. As a teacher and life-long learner, I believe all students have to the ability to learn. Some material may need to be presented differently to some individuals, but every student can learn. When I am not teaching, I enjoy working out and reading.

I am currently living in a small coastal town in Spain called Altea. I have experience teaching a wide range of subjects from high school biology to advanced graduate level statistics. I hold a bachelor's degree in Entomology from the University of Georgia. This summer I completed a master's degree in Biostatistics and Public Health from Georgia State University. My research was on complex and multilevel modeling of chronic diseases. I also worked for Grady hospital in Atlanta, Georgia as a Research Assistant for 6 months. I'm extremely passionate about statistics and science in general. As a teacher, I focus on trying to present things using real world applications and examples so that my students can see relevance in the work that we do together and are able to grasp abstract concepts more easily.

I am a Chilean Teacher with a diverse background. I started as a Music Teacher many years ago and when I came to the US, I got a Master's Degree in Cultural and Linguistic Diversity, with concentration in Hispanic Language and Studies. I have taught Spanish for different ages and levels at different Colleges for the last 13 years. You can be confident that I know what I'm talking about when it comes to the Spanish language and Spanish and Latin American Culture.

I'm currently a senior at Vanderbilt double majoring in history and business, while also preparing for the LSAT exam. I've tutored several different subject areas, but I can make the most impact assisting students with history, reading, and writing. I believe that every student has the potential to achieve their goals, and that by helping others I can enhance my own education as well.

I love making complex ideas digestible. I discovered this during my eight years as a competitive debater in high school and college. I was lucky enough to coach high school debate for four years helping students learn how research, write and speak in front of an audience. At my undergraduate, Simpson College, I tutored college and high school students in mathematics, economics, accounting and edited papers. I firmly believe every student can succeed if they set a goal, seek out the right support (that's me!) and work hard. I graduated Simpson College in 2016 with degrees in Economics and History, and I am currently applying to Ph. D. programs in Latin American History. As a full-time dork, I also love playing board games, video games, reading with my cat and learning about new and interesting ideas and people.

I am currently performing my dissertation work in Dr. Herve Roy's lab where we focus on characterizing a tRNA dependent pathway for lipid modification that is conserved in bacteria and is a cause of increased antimicrobial resistance in many pathogens. I have been involved in higher level education (both undergraduate and graduate) for over 8 years now. Through my own successes and particularly my failures (yes I've had my fair share) in courses I've taken throughout my career, I am very aware of what it takes to be a successful student in various subject areas.
