Reflecting on my educational experiences, I appreciate the immeasurable impact that teachers make on the lives of students. When I lived in Morocco, I have worked with young people as a teacher and youth worker in rural community schools in Morocco, I planned, prepared and delivered educational activities that engaged students in debate and general awareness raising about the broader global environment. Then I moved to the United States and started an MBA degree while again teaching French and Arabic as a language partner at the University of North Alabama. Many of the students I had were able to get prestigious scholarships abroad to enhance their language abilities.My experience working in varied environments has enabled me to develop a range of practical skills. I am able to manage effectively, conduct activities safely and communicate with people from diverse backgrounds. Further, I am very creative and enjoy sourcing materials that make learning interesting. Most importantly, my ability to work well with others, motivate, is a very significant contribution that I am confident I can bring to the course.

I graduated from Wesleyan University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in French Studies and College of Letters (a multi-disciplinary program that includes English, history and philosophy). I wrote my senior honors thesis on the 1980 Berber Spring in Algeria and 2011 Libyan Revolution. During a semester abroad in Paris, I tutored elementary school children as an English language assistant. While at Wesleyan, I also worked as an ESL instructor, tutoring a Moroccan immigrant and helping him to gain citizenship and employment. Education has given me the opportunity to find what I am passionate about, and I hope to help others gain that same opportunity through tutoring. I tutor in English, French, and standardized tests, and especially enjoy helping students think about subjects creatively and from new angles. My largest interest, outside of education, is music. I worked throughout college as a music director at Wesleyan's radio station, and currently work as a producer and staff writer for Afropop Worldwide, a non-profit radio show dedicated to African music and music of the African diaspora. I also love watching independent films and reading fiction and philosophy. I love living in Brooklyn, but I enjoy leaving the city to go hiking, and I bike throughout the city as much as possible.

All my life, I was always curious about how the human body work. A growing interest in understanding the origin, growth, and function of living species led me to major in Biology. I started at Miami Dade College as pre-med and transfer to Florida International University (FIU) where I received my bachelor of Sciences in Biology major. While I was attending FIU I worked as a Peer-Led Tutoring Leader at MDC, where I guided and mentored students who struggled with mathematics, chemistry, and biology. My experience tutoring other student help me understand the materials better by trying different techniques for problem solving. I also enhanced my interpersonal, communication, and team-building abilities and improved my leadership skills. After graduating from FIU, I felt the need to enhance my science background by enrolling to the Biomedical Science program at Barry University. Tutoring others helped me to extend my knowledge and be able to build my ability to get involve, and demonstrate my compassion and commitment in these areas. My interest in science and my natural curiosities to the well-being of others are the reasons that I enjoyed tutoring.Besides tutoring, I enjoy traveling and learn about different culture, and also play soccer.

I'm currently an elementary school paraeducator in Highline school district, WA, where I help K-5th/6th grade children with reading and math. I'm always primarily concerned with helping my students attain the goals that they see as right for themselves. I have tutored various subjects including elementary reading, writing and math, French, ELL/ESL, high school and college English literature, study skills, and algebra. I could also assist with Portuguese and perhaps beginning Spanish, as well as test prep (SAT, ACT). In China I tutored various ELL/ELL clients of all ages. In high school and college I tutored a few students in French as well.My future goals include pursuing a secondary teaching certificate and teaching ESL, French, and possibly other languages in public school. I graduated summa cum laude in April 2020 from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Neuroscience, B.S. with honors in Psychology, B.A. in French, minor in Chemistry and certificate in Conceptual Foundations of Medicine. I love teaching and tutoring people in topics of all kinds and have done so since freshman year of high school when I began working as a private tutor and a junior teacher at a local learning center. Working with students is a passion of mine since I love learning, teaching and getting to know new people as well. During my final two years at university, I was taking both French and Spanish classes back to back and would devote almost all of my free time to studying/helping others. My first master's degree is in French language and literature. I spent a large amount of my childhood and youth living in rural southern France and going to school there with typical southern French children, and not only love the language but the culture as well. My second master's degree is in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and has an education specialization. My current master's program is in Spanish language and literature with a specialization in linguistics. I have taught French at the university level for two years, ESL in a professional school for a year to students from all over the world ages 13-88, and have tutored Spanish, French, professional writing (with MLA and APA citation), and basic study skills such as time management and organization. I love teaching and I believe that you need to be having fun learning or else the information you are absorbing will have no purpose in the future. I create lessons involving zombie attacks, trivia games, and cultural lessons that all tie to what needs to be learned. As a life-long academic, I believe that learning, though sometimes difficult, is one of the best pleasures in life. I believe frustration and confusion are tools in teaching and not mere hurdles to get over. I love to do art and D.I.Y. projects in my free time as well as read, read, and read.
