During my experience tutoring children in Japan, I learned that I love helping students be the best they can be. I received my degree from the University of Redlands in Asian Studies with a minor in English, and I hope to continue my studies in English or Literature in the near future. As such, I focus on tutoring English subjects for the most part, and it is my favorite subject to tutor! I hope to spend some time in the next few years teaching English as a second language in Japan, something I have already done and loved. My tutoring style is to work with my students toward a common goal and to help them learn to the best of their ability. I was able to observe the academic gains from children working collaboratively in groups. I was also able to work with children who needed extra help onareas such as letter formation. I saw the children develop and found his method of teachingvery effective.

Without that person who helped me through those difficult years, I would not be tutoring today. I have ten years plus of teaching experience and love working with all kinds of students especially younger kids in secondary and primary school. I graduated from Montana State University with a master's degree in Mathematics with a minor in education and have taught in more than five different countries. I have helped many students complete their assignments and pass their exams by giving them pointers and helpful tips. I am a first-generation Asian American, and I strive to help others like me so that they can reach their potential because everyone has the capacity to learn. Writing and English are subjects that I enjoy teaching because it's a subject that can be found practically everywhere, and I believe a strong foundation in writing can be extremely helpful for any subject. History and psychology are also subjects that I enjoy teaching because they are interesting subjects that are fun to learn about. While I initially stumbled upon my knack for tutoring by teaching others as a method of studying for my own courses, I soon discovered that I had a natural ability to communicate information to others and to help people understand subjects they had previously struggled with.As a Master of Fine Arts candidate in Creative Writing at Rutgers University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English (2018), I am often the first person my peers go to for help understanding difficult literature, reviewing their essays, or tackling a difficult writing prompt. Through that, I now see that tutoring is a wonderful way for me to combine my enthusiasm for reading and writing, my success as a graduate student, and my desire to help others. I hope to not only help my clients achieve a better understanding, but to pass on my own enthusiasm for literature and learning.When I am not in class or working as a nanny in the mornings, I enjoy writing poetry, playing with my kitten, and exploring new neighborhoods around me. I am also a music enthusiast, and can always be found singing, listening to my favorite artists, or browsing for up-and-coming bands. After I complete my Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing in 2021, I plan on pursuing my dreams to publish my own book of poetry.
