I'm a recent graduate of Harvard University, I've been tutoring for about five years now. I come from a public high school of 240 students in middle-of-nowhere rural Connecticut. Plain and simple: I wouldn't have made it to Harvard without finding a way to enjoy studying for the SATs and other tests. My goal is to share that enthusiasm with my students. The test might be frustrating, and it might seem pointless, but I insist that every hour spent on SAT prep is a priceless investment in your future. (...and I have an economics minor!) I am in the process of selecting a masters program in education that will begin this summer. I have 2 years experience doing 1 on 1 tutoring and it is very effective compared to classroom teaching because there is only one student to focus on. I'm an undergraduate at Columbia University in New York City, and from this you might think that Varsity has put my profile in the wrong city. They most certainly have not: I am a Houstonian, born and raised, and I'm back in my hometown for the summer. Last year in New York, I worked with Elementary schoolers, helping with preparation for New York State Math and English exams. This summer, I'm looking forward to helping with test-prep for all ages. With the help of some excellent teachers, I myself scored a perfect 2400 on the SAT, helping me get into Columbia, one of the most prestigious universities in the country. Since then, I've wanted to join that elite corps, to help other students conquer standardized testing, complete the college application process, and go further on the road to achieving their dreams. At Columbia, I study Computer Science, but I also have a great passion for the sciences, math, and literature. I enjoy Chemistry and Physics, am very comfortable in math from Pre-Algebra all the way through Calculus I, and have gathered some great insight about the sort of writing that is expected from America's top universities. I love learning of all sorts, and hope to be able to share some of that passion this summer! When I'm not preparing for classes, I enjoy reading the classics, learning new programming languages, and exploring the two wonderful cities I'm so privileged to split my time between. I'm a recent college graduate with degrees in Biological Sciences and Russian from Ohio University. During my time there, I tutored students in a variety of subjects, including biology, chemistry, and Spanish. In addition, I worked as both a peer advisor and teaching assistant, which gives me insight into the learning strategies and study skills that students need to succeed. As a tutor, I like to focus on doing actual problems with students because it is the most effective way to immediately identify their strengths and weaknesses and to address them. I am in my second year at MIT studying mathematics, and I am currently doing a research project in Spectral Graph Theory. I have been a tutor since my junior year in high school, and I enjoy teaching all levels of math; everything from pre-algebra through calculus and linear algebra! I focus primarily on making sure that the definitions and processes given in class make intuitive sense, so that math can begin to feel like second nature.

I am currently a student at Yale University. I'm a prospective Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology major on the pre-med track. Throughout high school, I have tutored students in a vast variety of subjects through National Honors Society. I have also worked with ESL students through Spanish Honors Society. As a college student, I have taught various interactive science subjects to New Haven elementary students over zoom as part of the Demos organization. In addition to academic subjects, I have also privately tutored students in violin. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Math and English. In my experience, helping students prepare for Standardized Tests and classroom subjects is the most rewarding. It's unforgettable to see a student's tangible progress, and to help them conquer their difficulties!!

I am currently pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Aerospace Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. I am also a graduate of the high school International Baccalaureate Program. I have informal experience tutoring high school physics, but am most passionate about tutoring students for the ACT standardized test, having had extensive experience preparing for standardized tests throughout high school. I am eager to aid students in boosting their scores before their upcoming college applications, an important milestone in many students' lives. In my free time, I also enjoy playing tennis.

I have done research about cosmic ray acceleration at supernova shock fronts in the Princeton University Department of Astrophysics, simulating how the turbulent plasmas push protons and ions. I have also worked at the Norfolk State University Department of Engineering, designing, simulating, optimizing, and building light filters for wavelength-division optical-electronic multiplexers. Another field I study is the mathematics of quasicrystals and aperiodic tilings, such as the Penrose tiling of rhombuses.
