I am a math and science tutor with years of experience and a passion for helping young students realize their potential and achieve their goals.I received my bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. I am currently studying to become an actuary, having passed the first two exams. I am working toward the third exam, studying advanced calculus and probability theory.I began tutoring in 2013 while working on my bachelor's degree, and have been doing so ever since. I have tutored several students in a variety of subjects in math and physics, from algebra 1 up through college level calculus, including ACT test prep.Working one on one with students to help them achieve their academic goals has been a deeply rewarding experience for me. I cherish the opportunity to share my skills and experience with my students, and I make their success my highest priority. I believe that with hard work and the proper guidance any student can be successful.

I have 5 years experience tutoring mathematics and chemistry courses at all levels, and I recently became a certified tutor by the National Tutoring Association. I enjoy tutoring because of the individualized learning atmosphere, and I take pride in my ability to determine what is challenging an individual, and how to figure out an unique solution that will help that particular student. I am available to tutor during the week in the evening, as well as any time on weekends. During my free time, I enjoy playing and watching sports like basketball, football, and tennis. I am an organized and flexible Math Professional with more than 11 years of teaching expertise. I can explain complicated mathematical concepts in an easily understandable manner. I love Math and have passion to teach, with so many hours of tutoring experience, I can assure better understanding and outcomes. All these years I have tutored more than 100 students ranging from Elementary to High School as well as college students whether it is with homework help, extra practice, giving lessons, enrichment or preparing for quizzes. I am an M.S in Mathematics and specialized in Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, Calculus AB and BC, Finite Mathematics, Differential Equations, SAT and ACT test prep.My approach towards tutoring is customized learning as I try to figure out the weak points of the student and work on those points in a way to make them feel interest in the topic, like applying those concepts in the real world scenario or more related fun examples. I discuss the topics to work on with the student prior to the session, and always go over quickly with the basics to make them feel confident and comfortable enough to ask doubts in between without any hesitation. Also after each session I provide them with related study guides and homework. In my free time I like to watch movies, spend time with my girls and friends.Summer time I do gardening and like to grow my own vegetables.

Hello! I am a current student at Columbia University, majoring in Computer Sciences. I really enjoy helping other students learn, and I believe that a strong foundation is necessary for any progression to higher education. Without fundamentals, student have a difficult time following class or lectures. I can't tell you how often I am in group-study sessions or helping a friend one-on-one and the only real problem absorbing the material is because their baseline knowledge was not as strong as it should have been. I have a lot of experience with teaching and tutoring in math and science. I also am well versed with SAT prep in test-taking strategies and time management on the test, as well as creating a plan leading up to the test. Before studying at Columbia, I was a Nuclear Electrician in the Navy for six years. My experience taught me the value of patience, determination and sacrifice. It also taught me that with time and hard work, one can achieve incredible things.

First, a tutor needs to be concerned for his students and needs to create a friendly learning environment. Then, the tutor can establish a team in order to improve the product. The product is homework, quizzes and exams. Good study habits are very important. Many times a parent can help a student with this, so the team might consist of the tutor, student and a parent.

I am a man of many diverse talents, interests, skills, and abilities. An adventurer by nature, I've done everything from flying light aircraft to single-handing a 27 foot sailboat, from hiking the Continental Divide to diving in the Puget Sound. I have formal training in Engineering, Aviation Maintenance, and Commercial Diving. I am 29 years old, and have tried to use those years to acquire as many skills, abilities, and as much useful knowledge as possible. I believe that the more one knows, the more one has the obligation to use said knowledge for the benefit of others, whether by direct application or through teaching. I joined varsity tutors because my cumulative skills and experience can be leveraged to great effect in demonstrating to students the practicality of whatever subject matter they are studying, and helping them maintain motivation in areas that they may be struggling.

"Think like a proton, and always stay positive!"I am currently an undergrad student at the University of Arizona, where I am trying to earn my BA in Physiology in order to go to medical school. Throughout college, I have learned many things, but one that I will always take with me is my passion for teaching and helping others. In addition, it was also made readily apparent that I had another deep-rooted passion in the form of math and chemistry, especially when applied towards the medical arena.Over the past few semesters, I have officially worked as a tutor at a community college, where I handled anything from one-on-one tutoring to presenting chemistry applications to a classroom of students. I have had a lot of positive feedback and commendations from students that I have tutored; one time in particular a professor came up and thanked me because of their students mentioning of how they liked the way I had explained the topic by relating it to real-world examples. For example, when going over ionization energies for elements, they can be thought of in the same way as viewing a plane that is trying to reach orbit. The potential energy that increases with each subshell around the atom is synonymous with the energy that it would take for a plane to reach orbit from differing heights; the plane that tries to take off from the ground will take more energy to reach orbit than a plane that is already in the air, which is the same concept for ionization energies for atoms with removing electrons from differing subshells. With regards to tutoring math and chemistry, I am the most familiar with high school and college level students, but I am comfortable with helping students of all ages. Being able to help students foster their critical thinking and self-confidence along with providing them motivation will help facilitate future learning over memorization. This is the recipe that will allow students to achieve their goals whether they are for a career or purely educational and this is what I am all about.

I am a recent graduate from Stony Brook University where I earned a Master's of Science and a Bachelor's of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering. I am currently looking for work as an Automotive, Aerospace, or Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Engineer. On the side, I like to pursue my passion for teaching by tutoring in Math and Science. I feel that these subjects, although daunting to some, can be firmly grasped by everyone if given the right opportunity to learn. For those who are struggling, it is my sincere desire to help you see Math and Science as fun and approachable subjects rather than challenging and overwhelming subjects. In so doing, I hope not only to improve the students results in the classroom, but to help them see how these subjects apply to the world around them and improve their understanding to a level that can be applied in every aspect of their life going forward. My outside interests include sports and music.
