Corina: Durham County tutor
Certified Tutor
In tutoring as opposed to teaching, it is important to not just communicate the information, but also to make sure that the student learns it. As a tutor, I work with the student's strengths and weaknesses to help him/her learn. I earned a Ph.D. in political science from Johns Hopkins University, where I also taught. Although I enjoyed teaching on the university level, I missed the engagement one develops in a more individualized setting like tutoring. I also earned a BA from Columbia University in Comparative Literature which required me to read, write and speak in French, German and Spanish. Finally, I excel at taking standardized tests and enjoy teaching others how to take them more effectively.
