Learning is a very important part of being human. I consider my role as an educator to be a sacred trust between my students and me. That means that my mission is not simply to help my students get good grades (although we do that, too); I work to strengthen my students' ambition to know more and to use academic success as a measure for how much they are learning. Most teachers don't like to be asked why students have to know math or grammar or history and so on; to me, there is no better or more important question.

My tutoring sessions are conversations. We ask each other questions about the material, and I help guide the discussion so that it will help the student understand how the topic is mastered. I ask you to work hard--I seldom take it too easy on my students. You'll grumble and complain sometimes, but you'll soon find that what I ask you to do will make your schoolwork or test questions seem much easier.

Remember, everyone is more capable than they think. My job, as I see it, is to help you understand and realize your full potential.
