Certified Tutor

I graduated from Harvard with a BA, Magna Cum Laude, in English. My life since that time has revolved around teaching and writing. I worked on a PhD in English at Berkeley, earned an MA in The Writing Seminars at Johns Hopkins University, and received an MFA in Nonfiction Writing at Goucher College. My career has centered on education: I taught undergraduates and graduate students in the creative writing department at Johns Hopkins for two years. I then taught essay and academic writing at George Washington University for seven years. During that time, I combined my writing with my love of travel by backpacking through Europe, the Middle East, and Asia and writing about my adventures. I am currently working on a book about my experiences in the Middle East. My favorite part of teaching is identifying each student’s interests and challenges and then working together to build on their strengths, work creatively on their challenges, and achieve their goals. The greatest reward of teaching is seeing my students succeed.
