Tutoring review by Sharnita in Newell, NC
At this session, we worked through a review package the student received for his upcoming test. This package covered writing/graphing linear equations, solving linear word problems, and parallel word problems. I noticed, there were a few things he overlooked when working on the problem, so I created a list of things to remember: Convert every equation into slope-intersect form. When graphing: label and number axis; plot b (y-intersect) on y-axis first. Subtracting a negative number from a positive number equals a negative number. To help him become more familiar with solving word problems, I suggested practicing some in his textbook. Also, he planned to ask his teacher to review them with him as well. He received an 84% on his last quiz.

Tutoring review by Johan in Newell, NC
Tonight we continued further explorations of advanced biological matters relating to people's lives. We revisited the phylogenetic tree of life and reviewed how it relates to biology. We then moved into how biology is commonly neglected by modern human health and how that relates to oral health, as well as a biological organisms' ability to restore itself. We also discussed the biological requirements and biological compatibility that must be respected in order for an organism to restore homeostasis. In our final discussion about how he needed to approach his coursework on his syllabus, I asked him to consider how all the biology we had gone over actually related to his coursework and how his coursework relates to his lifestyle. He was asked to consider thinking about what he values: what he cares about and what he would not want to live without.

Tutoring review by Maggie in Newell, NC
The student and I worked on some homework problems that she was having some difficulty with. These problems were on using Newton's method to find roots of a function, anti-derivatives, moving particles, and finding functions using derivatives. She also wanted to review a few problems in preparation for an exam. In these problems we reviewed finding derivatives of exponential functions, and analyzing the graphs.

Tutoring review by Ariel in Newell, NC
In this session, the student and I prepared for his upcoming test. He had a few problems to solve given by his teacher that we completed together. He was strong in calculating the problems and once he knew what formula or equation to use, he was able to get the answers correctly. We were able to work through those problems and see how to construct the graph given equations.
