I am a graduate of The University of Houston and received my Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering this past May. Having recently finished college, I have a good understanding of the courses and conditions college students take and go through. While obtaining my degree, I often provided informal tutoring for my peers to help them grasp concepts and work through challenging homework problems. It is also my belief that anyone can grasp a concept and that something that seems challenging or doesn't make sense often just hasn't been explained in a way that makes sense yet. I see it as one of my jobs as a tutor to find an explanation that makes sense. I mainly tutor mechanical engineering or related topics and mathematics. I aim to keep my teaching style casual and approachable so that my students feel comfortable asking questions and seeking help in the areas they need it.

Sanjeet

Hello! My name is Sanjeet. I'm an undergraduate student at Cornell University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, majoring in the Biological Sciences. I'm currently following a pre-medical track, and in the future, I hope to continue my education in medical school. Before attending Cornell, I received a High School Diploma with Honors from BASIS Phoenix. I took 16 AP classes at this high school ranging from AP Calculus BC to AP Physics 2 to AP English Literature and Composition. Of these 16 classes, I received a score of a 5 on 14 AP exams and a 4 on 2 AP exams. In addition to this, I took the SAT during my junior year of high school and received a score of 1590.My prior tutoring experience primarily comes from high school. I did voluntary tutoring for middle and high schoolers in subjects pertaining to the hard sciences, such as biology, physics, and chemistry. Moreover, I have a younger sister whom I've tutored often. While I can teach and tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about the hard sciences. I particularly enjoy tutoring Biology; after all, it relates to my major and future career aspirations.I tutor because of my beliefs surrounding education. I'm a firm proponent of education and believe that it is our duty to continually educate the younger generations so that they may succeed more than us. Coming from a 19-year-old, this may seem strange; however, my beliefs stand firm. This desire to educate the younger generation primarily came from my experience tutoring and teaching my younger sister. Through my actions, I hope that I can help elevate at least one person so that they may succeed in life and achieve great things.Finishing off with a little bit more about me, my hobbies are diverse and plentiful. I love to learn new languages and am currently teaching myself Japanese and Tamil. I also love to draw, weightlift, run and play video games with my friends.

10th Grade Math Tutor • +43 Subjects

I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences. Additionally, I have an Associate's degree in Pre-Professional Health. Accordingly, I tutor students in lower-division subjects, such as basic biology and chemistry, and also upper-division courses, such as immunology, molecular biology, and quantitative biological methods. My favorite subject is biology, but my in-depth knowledge allows me to appreciate the chemistry and physics involved when analyzing biology materials.I have over a year of tutoring experience, which includes working at Lake-Sumter State College in a certified learning center, as well as independent tutoring in college chemistry. I have tutored many courses and have tutored students with varying learning styles and from diverse backgrounds. As a successful first generation college student who is now applying to medical school---and who has consequently learned firsthand how to successfully study---my tutoring philosophy is that it is critical for a student to understand the "why" of his or her studies. From my experience, once a student can understand why the subject matter is important and see how it relates to other topics, other courses, and, importantly, to real world situations, the material tends to become more concrete and easier to learn. So, my style of tutoring allows me to cater to someone who may be looking to pass their final science or math class as well as to someone who wants to take an in-depth look at the material and connect it to other subjects and to real-life situations, possibly taking the material beyond the scope of the course. When I do not have my nose stuck in a book learning new information, I am most likely at the gym or running around Norfolk, Virginia. As someone who has run many races, including a marathon, I know the importance of stepping away from the books, and I appreciate the mind-body connection.
