That's where Varsity Tutors comes in. Our educational directors could help you to find an experienced, professional algebra tutor in Beaverton, OR. New mathematical concepts like variables, polynomials, quadratic equations, absolute value, relations and procedures, and inequalities can challenge math lovers as much as those who have little foundation in the subject. Session Summaries by Algebra Tutors

Beaverton, OR Algebra tutoring
Today the student and I reviewed material from his most recent Algebra quiz and practiced for the upcoming quiz. The concepts were factoring and simplifying polynomial equations with exponents. First, we reviewed the basic rules of multiplying, adding, and dividing exponentials. We began with basic problems involving just one of the basic rules, then moved to more complex problems that required applying two or more rules to solve. To prepare for his quiz this week, we found extra practice problems in the designated chapter of his math book. I had him do the problems on his own, and then we went over the answers together right afterwards. By the end of the session, he was solving the problems correctly and fairly consistently. Moving forward, it will be helpful to practice and maintain these skills regularly, as new material in math class tends to build upon previous knowledge.

During this session the student and I continued reviewing the process of solving quadratic equations. We went over several consecutive integer word problems, found dimensions when given a ratio of length to width, and also covered methods for finding a quadratic equation given its roots. I noticed that the student struggled a bit with performing the Difference of Two Squares factoring method when it involved fractions, and with the tricky TRAM case where a is greater than one, so I made sure to focus on these areas until he had a better grasp of them.

Returned to algebra for a review. She had some trouble recalling the processes immediately, but had a fundamental understanding of the concepts once I jogged her memory. I asked her to finish the practice problems on her own.
