I'm an attorney, Ph.D. student, and aspiring law professor. I am working on my dissertation for my Ph.D. in Law at Yale, having previously earned my J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School. I practiced for three years at a large law firm in Washington, D.C., primarily representing television stations.I also speak German, having learned it as a high school exchange student, majored in it in college, and having spent a summer working in a Berlin law office.As much as I love the law--and I really do!--I also love teaching. I recently spent a semester teaching as an Adjunct Professor of Law at a law school; that experience confirmed for me that teaching is what I was meant to do. I have had numerous other teaching and tutoring experiences, including working for my university's tutoring service as an undergraduate student and later working for my law school as a tutor.

My favorite subject to tutor is essay writing because it shows a student's individual voice and affects the student's understanding of and performance in every other subject. My passion for hearing others and advocating for their personal success began when I worked as a student program liaison in Germany, continued through my legal career and informs every aspect of my tutoring methods. A great tutoring session happens, when I help a student to success on a particular assignment by giving them the tools to use language better, so that achievement comes easier in the future. Outside of tutoring, I like to find ways to help as a communications consultant, and caring for my family, friends and pets.

I obtained a Juris Doctorate degree from Nova Southeastern University, a master's degree, in Criminology, from Florida Atlantic University and a bachelor's degree, in Criminal Justice, from Florida International University. I am currently an attorney in Florida. Prior to becoming an attorney I was a Florida State Trooper. In my law enforcement career I was assigned to Road Patrol and transitioned to the Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Intelligence. I am also bilingual and fluent in Spanish.

Learning should be fun. That is my approach to teaching and tutoring. We tend to enjoy and appreciate things we do well, but sometimes we need to learn things that don't come so easily. Everybody learns in a different way. Very often, simply turning the subject around so it can be viewed from a different perspective, enables someone who once wrestled with it to understand it better. As a trial lawyer, I frequently needed to find ways to influence judges and juries. Understanding that my point of view was not necessarily the same as someone else's enabled me to find ways to help others understand my client's position. I believe the same holds true with tackling a problematic subject in school.Education is so very important. It alters the way we see the world around us, and in the process it changes lives. Art, mathematics, literature, language, history, chemistry, they all provide bits and pieces that contribute to our experience on this planet.I find tremendous joy in helping another person learn to conquer, comprehend and enjoy something which once presented a problem. Education has always been very important to me. Many subjects can be very difficult to learn and learning how to deal with the stress of that is something that I can understand. I believe in helping people not only in understanding the subject, but also learning study techniques, planning, organization and how to deal with stress. When you do not know a subject matter it becomes boring and you lose interest. When you know the subject matter it becomes interesting and fun. No one likes to watch Jeopardy when you do not know the answers. When you know the answers, you feel confident and are having fun.

Now I am working hard with students from different places in subjects like MEE, MBE, Criminal Law, Spanish among others.Originally from Nicaragua, I moved to the Miami, FL to pursue a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice.
