It is obvious that a tutor who makes a student feel seen, listened to, valued, and respected on a daily basis has the ability to re-engage a discouraged and unmotivated student. These caring tutors are in an excellent position to assist students in developing the abilities required to successfully traverse their chosen path. I believe I did well in my prior course. I got along well with my classmates and loved working with them. At the same time, I had to prioritize my job and ensure that I finished what I needed to do. So I'd guess they'd describe me as disciplined, but yet nice and supportive. In Iran, I received my bachelor's and master's degrees from Guillan and Tehran Universities.I worked as a researcher at Oregon State University and Michigan State University for two years. I gained valuable experience in teaching, research, and communication with students, faculty, and staff at these two universities. In addition, I have taught the following courses:1. ANS 483 Ruminant Nutrition Course (SS21-ANS-483-001) at Michigan State University's Department of Animal Science2. The University of Tehran, Abourihan College, Central Laboratory Course: Introduction to Laboratory Techniques3. Tehran University, Abourihan College, Central LaboratoryIn the lab workshop, the topic is health, safety, and the environment (HSE).My teaching philosophy is to foster supervised exploration in the classroom. I feel that learning is most successful when it is both relevant and realistic. Tutors, in my opinion, do more than simply teach youngsters how to read and do math. Students also eat together, go on field trips, and join school-sponsored clubs and sports teams. These are some "non-academic" activities that I usually do when educating students.

AP European History Tutor • +26 Subjects
I am a teacher, certified to teach high school social studies. I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Smith College, an MPhil (a doctorate without a dissertation) in History from George Washington University and an MAT from Simmons College. I have taught and tutored at both the collegiate and high school levels, in History, Biology, Calculus and Spanish. I am happy to help with any subjects in which you or your child may need or want assistance. I am most comfortable with History, particularly World History (ancient through modern) and US History (I admit that political history between 1820 and 1850 is not my favorite subject, but I know it!). I speak four languages beyond English, in varying degrees (French, German, Arabic, Hebrew). My graduate training in History focused on Middle Eastern History and Cold War History (especially the nuclear arms race); in college, I minored in History, primarily the History of Europe between the Dark Ages and the Renaissance. I believe that a high school teacher's job (and a tutor's) is not just to cover the curriculum. I also provide my students with the skills they will need to succeed in college and the workplace, including study skills, note-taking skills, research skills, writing skills, and critical thinking skills, especially about current events. I agree with Jefferson on the necessity of well-informed voters to a functioning democracy. I also believe that learning should be fun, whenever possible, while admitting that, particularly in high school, students must often "get through" subjects they do not find fun. I feel I should acknowledge that I consider that once my student, always my student. This means that I answer panicked emails from students who have forgotten how to do footnotes once they get to college, among other things. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy reading, watching rugby (I used to play), swimming, dancing (all kinds), photography, reading, manga/anime and needlecrafts. Model United Nations is my all-time favorite club. In addition, I love spending time with my nephew and nieces (preschool to early elementary age). I love to laugh and I am often unintentionally funny; fortunately, I don't mind laughing at myself on occasion.

My name is Jackson Ranger. I graduated with a B.A. in History and International Relations with a minor in American Studies and a Certificate in International Affairs. I received the Undergraduate Writing Award from the Center for the Study of the United States in my Fourth Year and graduated with High Distinction. I have conducted primary and secondary historical research in Toronto and the prestigious Trinity College Dublin in Dublin, Ireland. I specialize in transnational history - tracing the institutional and individual connections between regions of the world through networks of exchange, communication, and migration - as well as American history. I am also well-versed in academic and creative writing. As a Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Undergraduate Journal of American Studies, Features Editor for The Mike - a Toronto-based student-run newspaper - and Associate Editor of Defense News for the Commandant Journal, I have extensive experience in writing and copyediting. I am an experienced tutor in advanced research skills that are helpful to students of any age - especially those who will soon graduate to the university level. My teaching style employs a mix of lecture-based instruction and direct handling of primary and secondary materials. I also like to keep sessions interactive and dynamic through videos, activities, or writing exercises.

Hullo there!I am a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University, where I received a B.A. in History (after moonlighting as a literature major) and a B.M. in Vocal Performance. Following graduation, I went on to earn my M.A. at Eastern Illinois University in European History and American Intellectual History. Now, I am progressing toward a Ph.D. at the University of Illinois at Chicago where I study British History, World History, Science and Technology Studies, and the Philosophy and Teaching of History. As you can probably tell, school is one of my true loves. I enjoy working with students who feel similarly, but I also recognize that for some students, school can be incredibly frustratingand that's OK. I'm here to help you work through those frustrations using a wide array of teaching techniques, a great deal of enthusiasm, humor, and encouragement, and various lesson plans that will help you to access your strengths and develop your skillsets. I firmly believe that all students are creative individuals and intellectuals-in-training, and I promise to take your concerns seriously and help you work through anxieties so that you can be your best student self.My favorite topic to tutor is History, but I also love to help students with ACT preparation and college admissions essays. I recognize that applying to college can be very stressful, and as a future professor, I think it is important that I help walk students through that process, sharing advice and critique and making sure that everyone has the chance to represent themselves well when those dream schools are on the line (IWU was mine!).In my free time, I am a creative writer, a singer, an amateur artist, and an aspiring vegetarian chef. I love reading anything that broadens my perspective on the worldacademically or otherwiseand I geek out to all things Sherlock and sci-fi. I also love nature, photography, and traveling.

6th Grade AP Language Composition Tutor • +62 Subjects
Hi there! I'm Jenna, a recent college grad currently based out of Dallas, Texas. I've been an overachieving student since I was in kindergarten, and my grades and test scores were able to secure me a full-tuition scholarship to university. As a high school student, I used Varsity Tutors to help me succeed in classes that I struggled with, and I am now excited about the chance to use this platform to assist other students!I now have 6 years of tutoring experience with Varsity Tutors and other local tutoring companies. As a tutor, I vow to do whatever I possibly can to help my students succeed. Whether that means putting in extra time outside of sessions or using resources outside of Varsity Tutors, the most important thing to me is that the students I help are ultimately successful. Everyone has a unique style of learning that works best for them, and I promise to adjust my approaches and strategies to work best for you! One of the most rewarding experiences for me as a tutor is when I am able to explain a difficult concept to a student in a way that makes their eyes light up in understanding and I can see the gears turning in their head. Seeing my students achieve things they didn't think were possible is my ultimate goal. I believe in you/your student!
