About Me

My name is Jackson Ranger. I graduated with a B.A. in History and International Relations with a minor in American Studies and a Certificate in International Affairs. I received the Undergraduate Writing Award from the Center for the Study of the United States in my Fourth Year and graduated with High Distinction. I have conducted primary and secondary historical research in Toronto and the prestigious Trinity College Dublin in Dublin, Ireland. I specialize in transnational history - tracing the institutional and individual connections between regions of the world through networks of exchange, communication, and migration - as well as American history. I am also well-versed in academic and creative writing. As a Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Undergraduate Journal of American Studies, Features Editor for The Mike - a Toronto-based student-run newspaper - and Associate Editor of Defense News for the Commandant Journal, I have extensive experience in writing and copyediting. I am an experienced tutor in advanced research skills that are helpful to students of any age - especially those who will soon graduate to the university level. My teaching style employs a mix of lecture-based instruction and direct handling of primary and secondary materials. I also like to keep sessions interactive and dynamic through videos, activities, or writing exercises.
