Tutoring review by Michael in Sellersburg, KY
The student needed clarification on his homework and their new topic of similarity of shapes. We reviewed how similarity is different from congruence. We worked through many homework problems which included the necessity of understanding ratio and proportion. He was good at imagining this in his mind conceptually, but had a hard time documenting this in analytic math terms. He finished his homework and I gave him a more complex problem to solve. He got through it, but with a lot of inquiry prompting him.

Tutoring review by Albina in Sellersburg, KY
Today we briefly covered polynomial graphing. We spent the rest of the session on laws of exponents and doing examples. The student remembers most of the laws very well. She forgot one or two, but recovered by the end of the session. I think her understanding of concepts is very good. We will continue to do more practice with it before taking any exams. I offered to send a review sheet to her for a few practice problems, with answers. I think they would serve her well for her upcoming quiz.

Tutoring review by TaoTao in Sellersburg, KY
Today, we went over the first version of the first draft. I reviewed with the student what section I felt worked well, and changes that could be applied to other sections. We used many examples, especially focusing on the concept of letting stories and images relay the main messages. We brainstormed ways to handle a difficult transition, and focused on ways to make the next, complete draft as good as possible. The structure and pacing of the essay are in good shape, and by the next edit, we should be narrowing in on sentence-level edits.
