I am a graduate of Brown University, from which I received a Bachelors of Arts in Medieval Cultures and Biology. In college, I have extensive experience as a tutor for introductory biology and statistics courses, as well as a teaching assistant for advanced biology courses such as genetics. While I can tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about the sciences, such as biology, chemistry, and physics. I believe that forming a strong relationship with my tutees is the key to success, and will structure and refit my own lesson plans around their learning needs.

I am currently a rising senior at Vanderbilt University majoring in Human and Organizational Development with a minor in Chinese. I chose a major and minor combination that focuses on international business because I grew up in Singapore and would love to eventually return back to Asia. Throughout my time living in Asia, I traveled extensively and had the opportunity to work with children in Thailand and Cambodia, and help inspire them to pursue an education. Based on my experiences abroad, I believe that education has the power to change an individual's life for the better.

I am a huge component of constant feedback. A session may be wasted if feedback is only provided in the last five minutes. For this reason, I would help students stay motivated by maintaining a conversation over the material and relating to other interesting aspects of their life. Hobbies: books, reading, writing, music, art, sports

I am a graduate of Georgetown University where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in International Politics with a concentration on Foreign Policy. I also earned a Certificate in Latin American Studies and am a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, The National Political Science Honor Society. I have experience tutoring students in both the SAT and the SSAT. Additionally, my time as an 8th Grade Science teacher here in Dallas has prepared me for the curriculum and challenges facing students in the area. While I offer tutoring in a broad range of subjects from foreign languages to grammar and writing to math and science, I find Physics to be the most enjoyable subject to teach. I see Physics as the science that allows all the other sciences to occur, and I find it helpful to use Physics demonstrations when studying the subject. When it comes to tutoring, I believe that whoever is doing the talking is doing the learning, so my students will be doing the leg work when it comes to their learning. I believe that every student can achieve success in school; each student just learns at their own pace and in their own way. When I have free time, I enjoy reading a good book, playing a game of tennis, or participating in or watching theatrical events.

I am currently fluent in English and Spanish, conversational in Italian, and I'll be tackling Mandarin next. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama from the University of Oklahoma with an emphasis in Acting. I was lucky enough to attend OU on a National Merit Scholarship that covered my expenses almost entirely, so the National Merit qualification process is one that I deeply believe in and understand. Successful test taking is as much a product of understanding the test itself as it is the material being covered, and having one on one guidance in understanding how to take a test can markedly improve a score. An important part of gaining that understanding is working in the ways that each student learns best. In fact, I think that is one of the most fulfilling things about tutoring: finding the learning methods innate in each student and helping shape those instincts into tools for learning any material.

I have experience with students of all ages and have most recent teaching experience in math and Spanish. Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, Varsity Tutors connects students across Dallas's 22 school districts with personalized 1-on-1 instruction. Whether your student attends a school in DISD, Plano ISD, Frisco ISD, or any other district in the Dallas area, tutors can provide customized support aligned with your school's curriculum and pacing.
Dallas students frequently seek support in math, English/language arts, and science—subjects where personalized instruction helps students master Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards. Many students also benefit from test prep for the SAT, ACT, and AP exams, as well as support in foundational skills like reading and writing.
While Dallas schools maintain an average student-teacher ratio of 15.3:1, personalized 1-on-1 tutoring allows tutors to focus entirely on your student's unique learning style, pace, and goals. This individualized attention makes it easier to identify knowledge gaps, build confidence, and accelerate progress in ways that classroom instruction alone may not allow.
Absolutely. Tutors work with students to master Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills standards across all grade levels and subjects. Whether your student needs help with specific TEKS objectives, is preparing for state assessments, or wants to strengthen foundational skills, personalized instruction can be tailored to your school's curriculum and expectations.
During the first session, the tutor will get to know your student—their strengths, challenges, learning style, and goals. They'll assess where your student stands academically and discuss what you hope to achieve, whether that's improving grades, preparing for a test, or building confidence in a specific subject. This foundation helps the tutor create a personalized plan for ongoing sessions.
Tutoring costs vary based on the subject, tutor expertise, and your student's specific needs. Varsity Tutors works with families to find options that fit different budgets, and many students benefit from starting with a few sessions to see results before committing to a larger package. Contact us to discuss pricing and find a plan that works for your family.
Yes, tutors provide targeted preparation for SAT, ACT, AP exams, and Texas state assessments. Many Dallas students work with tutors to build test-taking strategies, master content, and boost confidence before high-stakes exams. Personalized prep focuses on your student's specific weak areas rather than generic review.
Varsity Tutors connects you with expert tutors who have strong backgrounds in their subject areas. Many hold relevant degrees, teaching certifications, or have years of tutoring experience. When you get matched with a tutor, you'll have details about their qualifications and expertise so you can feel confident in the match.
