I am a certified foreign language teacher with twenty years of experience teaching Spanish, French, Portuguese, and English.

I am currently a medical student in Philadelphia, PA. I earned my Bachelors degree in Cognitive Science and my Master's degree in Behavioral Science with a concentration in Health Behavior.

I am a graduate of Brigham Young University where I majored in International Relations and Russian and of Thunderbird School of Global Management where I earned an MBA in International Business. My college and graduate studies include coursework in Writing, Literature, Geography, History, Political Science, Russian, Music, Business, Math, Science, and Art. Because of my experience with many different disciplines, I am able to teach a wide variety of subjects and have experience working with students of all ages from middle school to middle aged. My greatest skill as a tutor is the ability to adapt challenging material to the viewpoint of my students. This allows me to build bridges of understanding that help more analytical people feel at home in creative disciplines or vice versa. If you are a gifted artist struggling with Math, or an aspiring scientist struggling with creative writing, I'm your man! I am also a very experienced writer and editor. In my free time I enjoy hiking, literature, ultimate Frisbee, international travel, soccer, baking, music, strategy games, and philosophical discussions. I have lived in Africa, Western Europe, and Russia and visited over a dozen countries. Please note that due to the many different subjects I have studied, the list of classes above is not complete. I am comfortable tutoring a variety of subjects, I am most passionate about writing and language, and I truly believe that strong writing skills are an asset in every area of life. Through my experience as an after-school program manager, I learned to build relationships and work well with students, parents, and teachers to meet student goals. In response to the pandemic, I quickly learned ways to adapt my educational youth work to a virtual setting. My social work background helps me connect with students on a personal and social-emotional level, which lays a trusting foundation for real growth and learning.

I am a certified teacher of both math and Chinese. I have taught everything from elementary to high school math, and from beginning to AP Mandarin Chinese. I have been teaching in public schools for more than ten years, so I know what students struggle with and where some of their biggest academic hurdles can be found. I am here to help! I like to break down knowledge and information into easy steps, in order to make it easier for students to solve their problems. By working together on everything from fundamentals to test preparation, you will soon know what to learn and memorize in order to feel prepared, regardless of subject!

My goal as a tutor is to help a student assess their strengths, identify their areas of need, formulate a plan to address these areas and assist them in achieving mastery in their desired subject. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Master's degree in Counseling from the University of Memphis, Tennessee. I have been working in education for over 15 years. In addition, I have spent over 2 years teaching English as a Second Language online. I have also spent time tutoring students in English and Math, as well as helping to prepare for Standardized Tests, such as the Graduate Exit Exam and the ACT.

I am passionate about giving back these lessons the same way I was able to receive them! I have taught students of many different ages from as little as 6 years old to as old as 16/17. I love teaching all ages in subjects such as reading and math, especially when it comes to the SATs. My philosophy is to never assume. I approach every student as a blank slate where I do not know about their prior knowledge, and as such, I make it a point to explain everything I teach thoroughly to ensure they have a strong foundation. With patience and understanding, I grow with my students to assist them in getting the most possible out of their education with me.

My name is Katherine Hancock, and I am passionate about helping students excel in mathematics, particularly in subjects like Algebra, Geometry, and SAT Math. I graduated with a Bachelor's in Engineering from Northwestern University, where I honed my analytical skills and developed a deep understanding of mathematical concepts. With over 5 years of tutoring experience, I have successfully guided middle and high school students through challenging material, adapting my teaching methods to meet their individual needs. I believe in breaking down complex problems into manageable parts, which not only enhances comprehension but also builds confidence. Witnessing my students grow academically and personally is incredibly rewarding, and I strive to create a supportive environment where every learner feels empowered to succeed. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy exploring new technologies and applying my engineering background to real-world problems, which further enriches my teaching approach.

I have always been a highly ambitious student and strive to learn in everything I do. In high school I became enthralled with my ACT exams, embracing the challenge and being reinvigorated with each improvement I could make; over the course of a year, I self-studied from a 21 to a 34 and even had fun doing it! With that score I was able to attend Columbia University where I received two BAs: one in Archaeology and the other in Classics with a focus on Latin. In each step of my educational journey, I have been interested in accessibility and have been passionate about spreading information as widely as I can. I am now pursuing an MA at Columbia's Teacher's College in Anthropology and Education, specializing in the experiences of Neurodivergent learners.

I am a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas who is passionate about helping students. I am currently on my gap year before starting medical school this summer and am taking this time to tutor and teach! I have several years of tutoring experience working with K-12 students and adult learners.
