About Me

Hello! My name is Emerald Cooper, and I am an experienced and dedicated educator with 5 years of teaching middle school English, including 2 years in 7th grade and 3 years in 8th grade. I graduated from Winthrop University with a degree in Middle Level Education, concentrating in English and Social Studies, and I am passionate about fostering a learning environment that encourages growth, critical thinking, and exploration. In addition to my classroom experience, I hold two Master's degrees from the University of South Carolina, one in Teaching with a concentration in Multicultural Studies and the other in Educational Leadership. These programs helped me gain a deeper understanding of diverse student needs and the skills necessary to be an effective leader in education. During my college years, I worked as a sociology tutor for two years, where I was honored with a program award for my commitment to student success. This experience taught me the value of personalized instruction, adaptability, and patience all of which I carry into my tutoring approach. What drives me as an educator is watching students reach their potential and exceed their own expectations. I specialize in building strong rapport with students, getting to know them as individuals, learners, and future leaders. I understand that every student is unique, so I tailor my tutoring methods to fit their learning style and interests. I believe in hard work and commitment, 99 and a half won't do. I challenge my students to push past their comfort zones and strive for excellence. As long as they are putting in the effort, I will support them every step of the way. My goal is to inspire students to believe in themselves, develop a love for learning, and build the confidence they need to succeed in school and beyond.
