About Me

I am passionate about helping students because I believe in their potential to grow and succeed. Witnessing their progress and newfound confidence is incredibly rewarding. I love creating personalized learning experiences that cater to their unique needs, fostering a love for learning along the way. Helping students overcome challenges not only impacts their academic success but also encourages personal development. Ultimately, I find fulfillment in empowering students to achieve their goals and become the best versions of themselves. I am a graduate of Fisk and Tennessee State Universities. From Fisk University, I received my Bachelor or Arts in English and my Master of Arts in Sociology. From Tennessee State University, I received my Master of Arts in English, and my Doctorate of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Secondary Literacy. I tutor students in English, Reading, and Writing, and all three are my favorite because they allow me to help students express themselves creatively, develop critical thinking skills, and gain a deeper appreciation for literature and language. My teaching philosophy focuses on creating a supportive and inclusive environment where students feel empowered to explore their ideas. I adapt my tutoring style to meet individual needs, emphasizing active engagement and collaboration. By using diverse methodslike discussions and real-world applicationsI make learning relatable and enjoyable. Building strong relationships with students is essential, as trust fosters effective learning. Ultimately, I aim to inspire confidence and a lifelong love of learning in each student. Outside of academia, I am passionate about several interests that enrich my life. I love working with my houseplants because caring for them brings me much joy and peace. I also love reading diverse genres because it broadens my perspective and exposes me to different cultures, ideas, and experiences. Moreover, I enjoy blogging about the books that I have read because it allows me to reflect on my thoughts and insights while sharing my passion for literature with others. Writing reviews helps me articulate my ideas and engage with a community of fellow readers. Blogging provides a creative outlet and connects me with like-minded individuals who share my love for reading.
