About Me

Hello, I'm Shannon Garrick, a dedicated tutor based in the Charlotte metro region, currently pursuing a Master's in Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. With over five years of experience in both classroom and tutoring settings, I have taught a variety of subjects, including Algebra, College Biology, and Elementary Math and Reading. My teaching philosophy centers on understanding each student's unique learning style, utilizing Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to create engaging, accessible lessons that foster a love for learning. I particularly enjoy working with diverse learners, including those with learning differences and multilingual students, as I believe every child deserves personalized support. My passion for education was ignited during my time teaching STEAM classes, where I witnessed firsthand the excitement and curiosity of young learners. I am committed to making math and reading enjoyable and approachable, helping students build confidence and critical thinking skills.
